Dr Maja Živković

Maja Živković (née Zlatanović), was born on 21.08.1981 in Nis. She enrolled Faculty of Medicine in 2000, with a maximum of 100 points on the entrance exam. In June 2006 she graduated with the average score of 10 (the highest mark).

Dr Maja Živković was declared the best student of Medicine in 2005 and the best graduate student at the Faculty of Medicine in Niš for year 2005/2006. The University of Niš awarded her the title of the best graduate of the University of Niš in the school year 2005/2006.

She received a scholarship from the Government of the Republic of Serbia, followed by the scholarship form the City of Niš, as well as from the Ministry of Science and Technology. During her last university year, she has been awarded the special Government of Serbia scholarship as one of the 300 best students in the country.

Since 2007 she has been working at the Department of Ophthalmology, Clinical Centre in Niš. In June 2014 she passed the ophthalmology exam with the highest mark.

She is an author and co-author of 57 papers published in scientific journals or presented at both, domestic and international congresses. She was a visiting lecturer at several International Congresses. Dr Maja was awarded by Profs Drs Ljiljana Zergollern and Kresimir Čupak foundation for the best scientific work of young ophthalmologists in the ninth CSCRS Congress - Croatian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.

A member of the AAO - American Academy of Ophthalmology, ISRS - International Society for Refractive Surgery, SOE - European Society of Ophthalmology, ESCRS- European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the Glaucoma Specialists Association Serbia.

As part of her professional development she spent 2 months in Athens Eye Hospital with a mentor, Dr Charalampos Livir Rallatos; a month at the University Clinic in Tubbingen, Germany, with a mentor prof. Dr Bartz-Schmidt, as well as a month at the Military Medical Academy. She finished the course in Vitreo Retinal Surgery at MTS Wetlab in Sofia.

As a recipient of SOE (European Society of Ophthalmology) scholarship she spent a month at the Institute of Vision & Optics, University of Crete, with mentors prof. Dr I. Pallikaris and prof. Dr G. Kymionis, who are the leading refractive surgeons and one of the most influential ophthalmologists in the world.
